Facade renovation for family home

A family home was given a total renovation, which included insulating the walls. Firstly the external wall was removed, which quickly revealed that a lot of masonry was left behind on the wall to be insulated, producing irregularities. The owner intentionally chose slender insulation and so insulation boards made of hard PIR foam, but in order to avoid that the hard boards would not attach adequately to the uneven wall, a PIR board was chosen with a 25 mm layer of glass wool on 1 side.

This wool ensures a good attachment to the uneven wall and prevents air rotation and wind penetration behind the board, which would result in a loss of thermal insulation.
